When I saw this challenge I knew I'd have to have a go at a scene from the Pyrenees. Me and my husband spent many summer holidays following the trail that takes you through the mountains from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean. This is somewhere in the center where the mountains are high and rocky. You can just see a breach in the ridge called the Breche de Roland which we climbed through one year from the Spanish side.
I started having a go at water colours last year when I found some discarded paints and brushes on one of my neighbours doorsteps. I've loved it!!! I have gravitated to landscapes and came across Olly Pyle's beautiful pieces which are an inspiration. But so much to learn though! Especially how not to end up with lots of blocks just filled in with colour. I would like the colour to be softer and more translucent. I go too dark too quickly.
A lovely painting! You painted a lovelysky and distant mountains. Look at Olivers Youtube channel! He has lots of great videos teaching us on everything from sky-studies to trees and how to manage edges.
There is also a book written by him wich is in print and many of us has ordered.
