Have kept this photo since winter 2023. I love dark skies. Took the opportunity of the Christmas Challenge to try a painting - light catching St Catherine's Hill, Winchester.

What a lovely downland scene Catherine, demonstrating a lot of skill. I feel that it is scenes like this where the watercolour medium comes into its own, catching fleeting moments of weather in the cool northern light that we have in the UK. I particularly like the light on the cloud which hints at the sun breaking through, catching field in the middle distance. Beautiful! Your sensitive handling of the medium has really brought this to life. Congratulations on a super painting and thanks for sharing the moment with us.
Beautiful and very atmospheric painting!
I really like this composition too! Great painting x
I really love this! Love the composition. Full of movement and foreboding. You make a mark with your brush and leave it - that's how it stays looking so fresh. Being that brave makes all the difference. Looking forward to seeing more of your work.
