On the left are traditional palettes, on the right, I use white china plates from the dollar store. That way, I can keep color schemes or collections from becoming a mess of colors. I use the lower right for the Desert super granulation paints from Schiminke for paintings of my Southwest surroundings. The greens are five Maimeri Blu colors. The pan set is W-N Professional that I bought when I started painting again.
Once you start painting larger WC sheets, you need a lot of pigment and washes. I have seen several artists use white ceramic plates. UK artist Joe Dowden used ceramic plates and influenced me. I purchased several white ceramic serving dishes (Amazon) that were rectangles. The fit on my table better than the round plates.
