Using a Mirror

Taking a moment to share something I found helpful yesterday in case others could benefit. I have noted comments on Olly's videos from lefties concerning their gratitude to see instruction from another leftie. When I watch, I am working to translate what I see him do, interpreting it for my right-handedness. So, just a quick note on a simple discovery I made yesterday when I wanted to practice a summer sky for a painting. I sat my laptop in front of a large mirror and watched Olly instruct with my right-to-left movements of the brush. Immediately, I was surprised with a sense of relief. I will be doing this going forward when I review other of his videos in order to have a greater ease of connection to the lessons.

Oh, yes. That has been my own experience over the last year of learning nearly all I know from Olly. I think the mirror, which will not always be practical, helped me see and repeat the action with a similar effect as hearing something in my "native language." :-)
