BM Volvo Victor

I am fortunate to have a group of friends to go painting with. We meet up Tuesday afternoons, every week in a different location, chosen depending of weather forecast and current wish of subject. As some of you know, I have a faiblesse for old tractors, so yesterday I managed to get the others to meet up at a farmer friend of mine who has a bunch of old machines dating from beginning of time. We were blessed with a wonderful summer weather, which might have been the last of this year. Anyway, my choice of subject was a lovely old (1957) BM Volvo 230 Victor beautifully posed against the neighbouring farmhouse. Sketched on site, using a full spread in a homebound 19x19cm sketchbook with Saunders Waterford 190gsm paper. All comments welcome!

I wish to write kid story book one day. I always imagine a painting like yours. I know the tractor and trailer need to have more shadow to ground it. But, there is occasion to break that rule!!! Got me thinking, where is the farmer?
