Local street scene

This is based on a photo I took in a neighborhood close to where I live called the 'Bird estate' in Dutch Vogelwijk. This street is called Nightingale Lane. It's quite an affluent part of the city with some beautiful houses - it reminds me a bit of Hampstead Garden Suburb in London.

So I found I actually enjoy painting cars and hedges - I'm continually trying to work in three layers, a light glow of colour washes, the big shape in the middle tones and then details. I'm not over painting any sections, I just trust my first washes and using white - only at the end for tiny highlights, although I now find just scratching with a sharp knife a more attractive approach.

Comments appreciated.

I don't consciously think about cool/warm colors when I paint - I should! As for the cars - I actually removed about six!
