Fir forest

A couple of years ago, I was experimenting with light, wet washes, tipping my board all around to let the paint mix on the paper. When I was satisfied, I let it dry and came back to it a few days later and just started painting fir trees. Then, I needed some kind of foreground, hence the rocks and boulders. I had none of this in my mind when I started, it just kind of "emerged". Painted on Arches, 140lb cold press.

Beautiful work! I especially like the conrast between the blurry/sharp foreground and the palette you used for the sky and foreground.
