If you are inside your car, does it still count...? 😉
I was driving along a portion of what is called the Wild Atlantic Way in County Clare, in Ireland, when I came up this scene of this bay with the red seaweed washed ashore. A recent gusty shower had given a vividness to the greens and reds. The weather had been changing every 10-15 minutes as it is sometimes wont to do, especially in the West of Ireland. I was on a painting holiday, and I was very much drawn to this scene, but I didn’t want to get all set up outside the car only to have to hurriedly escape back into it to get out of the weather.
It’s 12x16 on an Arches 140# CP block.
Since then, I have at times painted from my car. The cupholders in the console make great places to park your water jars. Just push your driver’s seat back for more room to accommodate your watercolor block or switch over to the passenger side if the steering wheel restricts the angle of your painting board or sketchbook more than you like. On the passenger side you can even perch your board flat on your lap if you like. You are then in control of the "weather conditions" inside your car!
Critique welcome. I think I would like to try to repaint the scene. I wish I could relive the day!
But with painting anything plein air in a wonderful way you can recall so much more of the aspects of the experience.

Everything counts. To paint is to see. For me, plien air captures your emotions in the moment. Painting in the studio from photos leads to a cascade of details that tell another side of the story — the difference between a Haiku and a novel. If you were to crop this piece to a 16:9 format you might like the difference. More dramatic to me. Nice spontaneous work.
