I feel your pain. I have been getting "progressive" lenses that work in the 6 ft to reading range for just this purpose. Similar to"computer" glasses. The distance is not as clear as I like (with my driving glasses) but people keep saying to squint so that is my version. I choose to see what my brush/pen/pencil is doing on the paper over super clarity in the distance.
