Hi, my name is Ross and I've always enjoyed sketching and painting right from an early age. During the eighties I set off, with friends, to hitch around Europe and see a bit of the world, To support myself I used pastels to create art on the ground and in Frankfurt, Germany I started making a really good living. I met some amazing people and learnt a great deal from the local artists.

Back in the UK and towards the end of the 90's I discovered Watercolour. I fell in love with the luminosity and was intrigued by how damned hard it was.. I felt I'd just about got a grip of the basics and then, something I'll always regret I stopped painting. I.T. was becoming huge and I jumped aboard.

So around 3 months ago I started painting again and wow, I could not believe how unfamiliar it all felt, almost as if i was trying it for the first time again. The thrill of a freshly stretched piece of paper is something I do remember and whilst at times it's been frustrating (I've churned out some mudballs lol) it's been fun learning again.

I discovered Oliver on YouTube and his relaxed, insightful teaching manner has been a great help in relearning old skills as well as new. (He also shows his palette work which is really helpful ) Whats also nice is his passion for the landscape, I've spent many a happy hour either up a hill or down a cave and for me there's simply nothing better.
