Creeping up on a half century married to my best friend. We have fives sons all launched into the world, all well married and prolific, so we have 16 grandkids. Two years ago an artist friend looked over my drawing and acrylic attempts that came very sporadically over 40 years (the urge hitting about once a decade) and she told me I should try to develop my art. So, I dove into colored pencil for months and though pleased, I found it quite a slow process and moved on to watercolor pencils without any real idea what I was doing, but it was more satisfying. Then last January my friend gave me a short lesson with watercolor paint and told me to go find a tutor online (she does botanicals and paints people's pets and I knew I wanted landscape). So, last February I surfed around getting disillusioned about this online tutor idea. Then I found Oliver Pyle on YouTube and began to understand and to be able to use the building blocks of this wonderful new language.
