My daughter and I often wander the low tide flats on Nudgee Beach, (Queensland, Australia). It’s looking out over Moreton Bay toward Stradbroke Island and the clouds always hug the line of islands as they move along the coast.
The sketch was made back in May, but I procrastinated over whether I should paint my daughter in detail, or silhouetted. The photo showed her in more detail, however, I wanted to brighten the background to show it the way I saw it with the naked eye. The photo dulled the light areas significantly, so I used a fair amount of poetic licence in painting this.
I’m definitely going to have another go at this one day.
Very nice composition with interesting placement of the trees and your daughter. I am glad that you kept light in the sky and the nearby water
