Interesting, a challenge and so many wonderful pictures!
This tree is on my usual walkway, when I am more up for a short break. In the background is one of the usual churches, you can see here in Skåne (in the very south part of Sweden). The tower is build in the 12th century, but I think the coral of the church is rebuilt in the 18th century.
I painted it during my renovations, while I was waiting until the paint on my walls and frames dried. I am a bit unsure if it turned out as I wanted it. Furthermore, I was struggling a bit with the foreground.
My rough sketch
I made this picture last winter. Quite different colors from my painting. I am wondering a bit where the shadow of the tree is in this picture. Oh, it has a useless fencepost on the left under the tree - so they seem to exist in reality.
I wish you all a happy new year and much inspiration for more pictures.
Overall a very solid sketch and nice composition. You put a lot of work into the tree. Perhaps there is a way to make the water a bit darker on the left of the tree and eliminate the brown so it looks more like the tree is on the bank of a river/stream. I like the bend back to the left as well.
