I am new to the forum and thought the first day of 2025 would be a good starting point. Inspired by Ollie's Christmas challenge I have attempted to paint this beach pine tree, which I often pass on my way to walks along the beach at Henlopen Park in Lewes, Delaware, USA. As you can see in the photo, the tree sits at the edge of a parking lot! I decided to take the opportunity to give the tree a chance to be seen as it might have been before parking lots were around. Had I taken the photo at a different angle the Atlantic would have been spotted. I am looking forward to comments and suggestions.

Thanks Bob, You are absolutely right about darkening some of the leaves, I will work on that.
A very lovely job. Good composition and good imagination. Als the shadows and good as is the fence. Some of the leaves on the shady side could be darker as well as those lower down, since they are covered by foliage above.
