Thanks for those thoughts. I've been thinking that it is too busy too - trying to paint the reality of a messy forest. If/when I do this again I plan to reduce the number of trees to make them more a statement as really their majesty is what is striking. That would give more room for the dark spaces in between and therefore greater contrast
I like the colors and overall idea. It is too balanced and I would try a repeat in which the figures are made 2-3 times larger and moved either down a little or up a lot. Joning some shapes together would reduce busyness
