Along the path

As the light way fading I was making my way home after going out sketching. The light was coming from the tennis courts out of shot but it cast a mysterious glow over the scene. I wanted to capture this dreamy atmosphere.

This is on hot press Saunders Waterford paper. I'm totally hooked on hot press, I was scared of it at first, but it works best with lots of thin layers of paint to build up the colour.

I used a new brush from Rosemary and Co called an 'eradicator brush', its for pulling out paint, but its more than just a brush for mistakes - its a lovely thing in its own right to get subtle gradations. I had a lot of fun with it.

Oh yes, her paintings are great - but my landscapes on HP always end up in the trash can. And I'm far too impatient to work in many thin layers like you describe. But you seem to like this method - your painting is great!
