Muted tones to enhance the sunset

In many of my painting I end up with quite colorful landscapes and I‘m experimenting with muted tones, so I can put the spotlight on a small part of the paining. This picture was perfect for the experiment. But (as I also posted in the Q&A-section of this forum) many clouds turned purple after drying. That is something I’m still figuring out.

Hi Marco, I also posted the theoretical question about the ultramarine in theQ&A section.

Olly suggests to add a bit of yellow, I’ll try that soon.

For my painting I needed a wet in wet approach to ensure the soft and ‘fluffy’ edges of the clouds. But I also see that ultramarine settles sooner than the burnt sienna which moves towards the edges.
