Bushwalk

These acacia bushes provided a splash of colour to our winter morning bushwalk in the Blue Mountains. There are 900 species of acacia (wattle) here in Australia and it is the national flower, as at any time of the year it is in flower somewhere across the country. The burnt trunks of the eucalypt trees are survivors of a bushfire three years ago, and the acacias are probably a result of the same event as they rely on fire to propagate the seeds.

The bright sunlight cast soft shadows across the track providing form to the landscape and the bush surrounds, indicating the direction of the path and creating a strong pattern of light and shade. All comments welcome.
