Plein air in the dunes

A bit chilly but I managed. Actually it helps you focus as you dont want to hang around to long. ๐Ÿ˜€ Its really hard to pin point what the actual colour of the dunes are, the shadows seem the best way to define them, they are blueish. The grasses, shimmer and shift in the light. Pastelly yellows like naples or rutile yellow seemed to work best. I was pleased with the sense of movement in this painting along with the shadow that defines the path. This was one of the first paintings ive done on rough Waterford paper instead of CP - I like rough, it seems to hold more water for longer (more surface area I guess) and of course it is more receptive to dry brush techniques.

What a wonderful painting, Paul. I like the simplicity of the scene, the structure of the shadows, the colours, all is very well done! It reminds me a bit at Wesson, a master of simple scenes, wonderful colours and atmosphere.
