The Shoana church
This is a gorgeous church from X century up in the mountains, it feels like in the middle of nowhere with a breathtaking view. I actually visited this place couple years ago and I think the view is engraved in my mind forever.
I tried to make it justice - and I think because of it I retouched it too much. Since i'm not used to such a big format, (37x37cm, I wanted to try close to a square format) I can't tell if it supposed to take this long or am I overthink it.
So my main question - does it look overworked?
Also I wanted to practice a grey-ish weather, but not bad. Does it look good?

Thank you, Paul! This is very thoughtful comment. I did paint it from a photo and I was trying to paint with less details aroung the church, but Im still struggling with it. I even washed away a layer or two on the tree and dark rocks. Definitely need more practice with that!
Also I was thinking about the light in the dore, but then thought that the church is light itself, so the dark dore would help to create the darkest contrast. The light though would create a better story, true!
