Herring Cove Look-Off, Nova Scotia
This is my go-to painting spot as it’s not far away from my home and on cold, windy or wet days I can just sit in the car and paint. I love practicing my rocks, water and trees from this beautiful look-off. It seems I can see and paint them differently almost every time. Which could explain my returning to the same location again and again. I’m including a few examples from earlier this month.
Any input is greatly appreciated. One thing I can forget, and it is so important, is composition. As a novice, I still find myself hyper focusing on one aspect of a painting and completely forgetting another. This can be frustrating but part of learning that I will someday overcome (hopefully ha).
Thank you for any insight you can offer
Note: The wide-angle of my phone camera makes things seem farther away.

Just wanted to add this is on Fabriano 1264 cold pressed, 300 gsm, 4x8” (10x20cm) paper. It’s a bit rough for my liking as I sketch a lot, and often do inking over my watercolours (though trying not to for landscapes - learning). But this is very affordable practice paper. I’m not sure paper is going to affect me too much at this level. 😆
