Twin Oaks Hay Barn

Found this scene on a reference photo/sketch outing I took in the hill country outside of Dripping Springs, Texas (where I live). I have loved old tumble down barns and outbuildings since I was a young child. This one stole my heart. I took several photos and stood on the side of the road and did a pencil sketch. The melancholy feelings that are evoked from old farm and ranch sheds, barns, who-knows-what-they-are-for buildings is what I tried to capture.

I've included the reference photo, pencil sketch, and finished painting. I took a good bit of artistic license on both the pencil sketch and then further with the painting attempting to simplify the scene.
