Thompson's Bay, Coastal Walk, Sydney

We often stop off in this small bay when walking the coastal track that links several Sydney beaches and bays, so is a familiar place to sketch. Despite the nearby houses, it is a quiet, peaceful bay with little activity. One day as we looked down from the cliff line above into the transparent water, we noticed a large grey shadow moving towards several people swimming, so shouted loudly to warn them and raced down to the bay. By then the shadow had surfaced, and to the great relief of all, it proved to just be a friendly dolphin investigating the bay. W&N transparent pigments - A. yellow, Rose Madder G., Cobalt Blue, Raw Sienna, Viridian, F. Ultra Blue, B. Sienna. Saunders Waterford, 300gms. 100% cotton, cold pressed.
