2 attempts at Olly's Studland Bay video demonstrations

There have been huge gaps of time between and during painting these pictures. Note to self "Don't try to paint when you're suffering from or recovering form Covid!" I am very grateful to Olly and his wonderful teaching and have learned a lot about how to attempt a painting in logical stages etc. I have never seen Old Harry's rocks and tried to research them. I still didn't understand them properly but ploughed on based on Olly's painting. I was shocked by the deep blue sea in the first painting but carried on to see the painting to its end. I tried to achieve a better blue in the second painting. I also 'borrowed' the cliffs from another of Olly's paintings to see if I could make more sense of them. They are still a bit bodged. I simply forgot to wet the paper for the shadows in the bottom right corner on the second painting and ended up wiping and scrubbing like it was an oil painting! Enough said about that. I need to take my time more and not rush and panic. I also need to stop bellyaching about lack of progress, the table being too high/small etc and just get on with it. I always seem to want to try again no matter how disappointed I feel after completing a painting.

I have a Facebook group, I made it with a friend. I post a photo, and everyone paint the same photo without seeing the other results.

There is no change of getting inspired or to copy. Last month I turned the photo into B&W so you did have to invent the colours too.

One of the most asked questions us what colour is that? Well it's warm or cool. And everything in between is not relevant.

On the 20th we all post our efforts. Not sooner and preferable not later too. Because you get that inspiring/ copy thing again.

But after posting we all applause on each painting. But you will see the differences and from there you could see what you could do better or come on better ideas.
