Derwent River, Dawn

This weekends effort - a view across the Derwent River in Tasmania at dawn. Really pushing myself on planning the washes to get the clouds and water. Pleased that I'm making some progress with this one.

Any comments welcome!

The washes are fine, and all that is painted looks good too! Alone the design or layout is not right. I agree with the similarity from the poles, but the poles could have another function, and that is connecting the scenery that is painted above, with the one below. although there are only poles. When you cut into the background with one of the poles, you make a connection, and more harmony. Ofcourse you dont make a pole long enough to cut the background, but lower the horizon. You can crop the image and make new poles. Or paint another sailing boat, connected to the poles, and cut into the the background with the mast. Your painting is also divided in two a bit. the horizon is almost spot on in the middle. It needs more top or bottom.
