Lamar valley

This is a view of Lamar river as it flows through the Lamar valley on its way to meet the Yellowstone river. Here it goes past one of the large cottonwood trees in the valley. Unfortunately in recent years, these cottonwoods have been dying off and new ones are not reappearing. At this particular tree, for several years there was a mint condition bull Elk skull and rack hiding in the grasses. Unless you crossed the river and knew where to look, you would never know it rested there.

So nice to hear the backstory, you are obviously familiar with this place. Wish Icould paint trees like that!
