Castle and Bridge
I have painted this after a photo my sister took a few weeks ago from a very small town in the middle of Germany called Runkel. I had to imagine the light source and direction since it was cloudy and there were no shadows in the photograph, which I didn't like. I wanted something more atmospheric. I made quite a few mistake
s (my greatest nemesis: laying clean washes down while connecting shapes of similar tone and value and getting the values right at the first attempt and not creating mud at some point in the process....) But overall it was a good learning curve from start to finish. :-)

I don't think the sky needs anything else, the village is the focal point, more attention to the sky would detract from the buildings and bridge. My eye follows the bridge over to those beautiful blues and it balances out well with the shadows under the bridge. I agree with Marco, the wall in the photo is prominent and could add more to the foreground and leading the focus to the bridge.
