Church on the dike in Varik
Like many of you, I went through all kinds of paper until I tried Arches and then you don't want anything else anymore. But this summer I made a lot of simple sketches on non watercolor paper, my sketchbook being a dummy book with blank pages, and that went reasonably well, even wet on wet. So I thought I should give it a try and made my next painting on simpler paper. This one is on Winsor & Newton 25% cotton, 300g/m cold pressed paper. And by keeping the wet areas small and using a lot of damp brush technique on the edges, I could almost reach the same result as on Arches, although I still see a lot of improvement points. Anyway, it was a useful exercise.
This scene is of an old church on a river dike in warm evening light. So I used a lot of yellow ochre (Schmincke), and for the rest Kobalt blue, burnt Sienna, burnt Umber and Paynes gray and a touch of permanent rose in the sky.
Comments are welcome, of course

Very gentle and nice colors! Though, I would suggest to improve the contrasts in some places, to enhance the feeling of depth, if I may.
