I tried something a little different. Using Arches 140lb Hot Press paper, I did an ink drawing from my reference photo and then did the painting over the ink. The reference photo was taken in early October of last year on the Leelanau Peninsula in northwest Michigan. It was that last magic hour before sunset and the air was clear and fresh, which is what I wanted to capture.
