How to paint hard edges

I was doing some exercises to just training colors and I was not supposed to make anything detailed. In two lower pictures I got a bit carried away with the details, but then I noticed a problem with the light side (left side) of the mountains that had hard edges which I didn't want to be there. I wanted the edges to be defined by the darker tones of the sky. How do you handle these kind of situations. I have painted with watercolours seriously only couple of weeks. I started drawing with pencils and digitally last summer, but I have fallen in love with watercolours now :).

Glad to help, that's why we're here! ;) I'm also a beginner, and I find that the more I learn about watercolours, the more I learn that there is nothing obvious about it... But the struggle is part of the fun!
