It's all about the light
Just near the location of the Jamison Valley sketch, and with a similar view into the valley, is this old heritage restaurant that is currently closed for restoration, and although the garden is overgrown, it retains all the character of a previous era. My focus was on the sunlit corner of the building with the strong contrast of light and shadows. Warm reflected light occurred under the awning and eaves with cooler shadows below from the foliage. White paper was left to indicate the light with partial areas of shade suggested on the windows and wooden boards of the house. Painted on site with limited palette of Windor & Newton pigments - Aureolin Yellow, Rose Madder, Cobalt Blue, Viridian. All comments welcome.
