Although I never make completed paintings outdoors (when I try they never seem successful), I do make sketches, notes, and photos from the subject, and always seem to have a backlog of subjects waiting to be painted, which explains this summer scene.

I made this painting from a sketch and photos I made en route to sketch elsewhere, the light and shadows caught my eye.

There used to be a big barn on the right, on which, at certain times of the day, there were wonderful shadow patterns, unfortunately, it was pulled down some years ago.
