Geese flying over the lake
This was a incredibly serene scene to experience in the real. Trying to do it justice in watercolour has taken me quite a few attempts. I'm pleased enough with this one. It's on Saunders Waterford CP.
A bit unconventional perhaps, but for skies, I literally hold the paper under the tap both sides for a while until the paper is taking in the water. Then I lay if flat on a wooden board and dive in with premixed colours. This gives me enough of time to blend the colour in the sky.

Beautiful, masterful handling of the medium! Love the play of soft washes of sky and lake, and hard edges of the background trees and geese. It's just perfect.
