Illuminated path under the setting sun

I love painting sunsets and nocturnes. This is quite a large painting (A2) based on a photo from a friend. It feels rather classical with the tall trees. I was inspired by the work of Corot and the Barbizon School in France.

Painted on Fabriano Artistico 100% cotton - this is quite a heavily sized paper. The trees were painted with a mix of DS Ultramarine and Maimeri Mars Red and Viridian, it made this beautifully rich oily sepia mix. The DS Ultramarine seperated from the light red in the sky which at this scale i felt worked ok, but once ive used up this tube i will order some Maimeriblu instead.

You have really captured a mood here, Paul. Following that lane into the mystery beyond... I can see a classic reference, Corot definitely comes to mind, not bad. What amazes me is, how you have succeeded, in this and previous postings, to give the sun such a glowing sense of light. If you don't mind telling, I would love to learn how you accomplish this. And yes, the trees!!!
