Open spaces giving a feeling of serenity, or simply void..
I see some of your paintings showing large fields and giving a desire to explore what's behind the next hill or group of trees.
I just practised painting an evening scene over my fields. And there should be pine-trees in the corner if I were to be honest. But when the first two washes were finished, -I just felt that I did not want to paint them in! This of course is every painters freedom of choice!
But does this work in my painting? Or am I simply fearing to make bad -worse? That last was a joke! I feel reasonably pleased with the painting. But started thinking.
What am I missing? What do you take special notice to when painting large open areas?
Thank you!

Nice painting Seija. Painting open spaces and vistas is difficult - the eye tends to want to search for a focal point or some detail that may, or may not be there. @Paul Oram makes some good points here. The biggest problem here is that the large landscape space has too much uniformity (colour and tone.) By constantly changing the colour, and tone, albeit in a very subtle way, it would give greater visual interest to this space. If you then gave a little more prominence to the main tree, then you'd be heading in the right direction.
