Waterlily Pond

Sometimes i like little details of a landscape. It schools my eye to look for light and shadow, and where to leave, what i see and create a scene, which works on paper. Here i wettet the paper first, let the flowers dray and paint the background wet in wet. When it has dried, i panted in the second layer the flowers and the darks. In the third layer I emphasised the darks. This is my second attempt, the first was overworked. What do you think about this?

Beautiful picture Birgit, we have a pond with very similar water lilies ( but no water mint) and lots of newts. Not sure that I feel confident painting them though. Thanks for sharing this, very inspirational.
