River Derwent, winter dawn

A recent watercolour. I did this in the studio, based on a plein air sketch I did on location recently and photo reference. I've been experiencing with some techniques I learnt at a recent workshop, in particular various wet in wet approaches, to get some variation in the sky and water. Deliberately choose a lowish horizon line nfor this to get the feeling of the big sky to reflect the cool and quiet of the early morning. Happy that some elements are getting better, though if i did it again I'd make the clouds on the bottom left lighted and less busy, and i'd probably change the foreground to there is less busyness so close to the edge.

Any comments welcome.

Very atmospheric Peter. Love the sky and particularly the water. The clouds bottom left are a little solid looking, but I don't think they're too busy, just need softening a tad. I do feel the three boats on the left look a bit regimented, maybe leave one out or vary their distance from the viewer. But overall I think you've captured the time of day well.
