Thanks for letting me in ! I'm a beginner at 75 so please be patient with me.

I'm in Rochester NY USA near the west corner of Lake Ontario and the Genesee river. As a youngster I had a strong interest in art since our school system had an excellent art department. Was a photographer in military and government for a while after school. My background is in machining, casting, laser cutting and computer aided design.

Now retired and with mobility issues I've become interested in watercolor landscapes of places I have enjoyed over the years. I'm waiting for some supplies and am setting up a tiny studio area. I hope to learn from both Oliver's videos and from group members. Thinking in terms of only two dimensions as we do in painting is so different than designing virtually in three dimensions!

Trees are one thing that I find intimidating because they are dicidous in our area which Oliver does so well. I really want leaf texture which I see as difficult.

This will be an interesting adventure !

Great to hear from you Jack and welcome! - you are embarking on a wonderful adventure. A difficult one for sure, but so rewarding. The key is to start off learning simple skills, how to make different washes, colour mixing, brushstrokes and to practice regularly. Things will then start to make sense.
