My painting of Oliver Pyle’s splendid tutorial #5. Quite a mess 🤪

It's my first landscape painting with watercolors (more experience with portraits in oil) and I tried Oliver's tutorial. Well, I know it didn't come out as expected and really made me quite upset yesterday. I tried to make the best of my mess on the right side of the hill. Nevertheless I must say I learned a lot from it and I'm looking forward to my next watercolor and watching more tutorials. Watercolor is much more difficult than painting with oil but it's a challenge and worth it.

Watercolour is called that because the medium is WATER, it's so easy to use too much paint and not enough water. It is better to start very pale and then gradually paint over with stronger paint until you get the colour you want. I belong to a U3A painting group and notice that beginners often seem nervous of using enough water.
