Meijendel, The Hague
Ive been doing some painting outside this week in this nature reserve just north of the Hague. Its been raining today and i've got a cold so i've made this at home from a photo I took, but it does really help to get out there, for me that's the whole attraction. I'm please with this as I'm busy teaching myself to simplify the image and break it down into big shapes. Any critique or advice welcome.

the grass marks give a sense of undulation of the ground which is pleasing. Trees firmly 'in ' the ground, not 'on'. The bold trees to the right remind me of one of the only two paintings we still have done by my Dad. Apparently Mum let my sister and I draw on the back of the others and then three them out! Defend your paintings!
