What is the best watercolour paper??

You often see this line on social media. And then people going to write all their favourite brands.

And every time they say Arches is the best and Saunders Waterford, Fabriano and so on. But for real, any paper can be made into art.

Okay on Arches your washes go more fluid, and it dries even nice. On Saunders you can load up a whole heap of pigment and still get a nice soft picture. The forgiveness of those more expensive paper is better.

The Langton Prestige, just wonderful, Canson Heritage or Canson Aquarelle.

Bockingford and Montval Canson, are also great papers. Only your approach must be different.

And Sketching paper? Just cartridge paper, is that good enough to make a watercolour on? I hear you think, it cannot be true.

Well you only find out when you try. But the technique you have to use is different again. Its all in you. it only needs to come out the right way. And believe me I know. I struggled for years! These two are just 200 grams sketching paper, that can take a wash. And yes you have back-runs, but I love them! Do you like them to?
