Field with bulls

For this painting I made a quick 5 min sketch, wet both sides of the paper laying the sheet on a non porous board. I then added my light washes into the wet to get a nice glow. I then went on to find the big unifying middle tone shape and connect all the cows with the shadows. I left a little white to define the sun hitting the backs of the animals and touched it up here and there with a tiny amount of gouache. I could have extended the darks into the trees, but I kind of like how that recedes and the bulls stand out, so I restrained myself and left it alone. Arches CP 300gm.

What a wonderful sunny picture, the shadows make the painting really vibrant. Love it.
