Swan with sunlight and reflections

Taken from a photo in my local park in The Hague. I took the photo purposely contre-jour to get a ring of light around the swan.

The swan makes for a lovely subject, I think I may do some more. Anyone interested in bird paintings should take a look at the work of Vernon Ward. Main colours: Prussian Blue, Light Red, Viridian. Millford block 31x23cm. Masking fluid for the light.

Thanks Art for your comment. It always seems to work it you can leave some of the paper white. Masking fluid can be your friend if you plan ahead.
