Tree on Lane, Racton West Sussex.

Hello, I finished this painting today. I am reasonably pleased with the tree. But I feel more foreground is too spikey. I was trying out Oliver’s technique of negatively painting to describe the tops of grass. Also foreground a bit muddy perhaps.

This is a tree that I often cycle past, on a small unnamed lane in the South Downs, near my village of Rowlands Castle.

feel free to post any tips.

This is full of character, with a beautifully rendered tree as the main subject. I also like the subtle way you have layered the background trees.
