Rebuilding

With my last few efforts failing to pass muster, I decided it was time to take a critical look at the lineup. Perhaps a rebuilding effort would yield better results.

Given some of the perspective and other issues in prior work, I took the only reasonable action, the pencil was Fired! 😲

The new pencil appears to have a better art pedigree but time will tell.

Trade rumors swirled around the lineup in the palette, but in the end, other than a few participants receiving a refresher, no changes were made.

I'm afraid Mr. Brush did not fare as well. He met the same fate as Mr. Pencil. Fired. 😢

We stayed with Arches 6"x12" panorama paper, but did go from Not to Rough. with the new lineup in place, we tackled Muleshoe Bend again.

The new pencil suggested we might get a better composition if we switch from a west facing view to a north facing view. This allowed us to add Midway Geyser basin and the Twin Buttes into the scene. Hopefully providing a bit more interest to the viewer.

The washes were laid down and the details added. Overall, I feel like it is a better piece, but I will admit that it seems a bit lacking. Almost as though there is no feel behind it. If anyone has thoughts on why that might be the case, please let me know.

Finally, thank you to everyone for providing critical comments and guidance as I try to move forward.

Sounds like your artistic tools quickly came into line and have followed all your instructions. A lovely gentle rendition of your scene.
