Elaine, I am so glad you are sharing your work with us. I too agree with your advice from Trevor. I think that we would be able to help you more if you picked simpler subjects and let us help you gradually build your watercolor skills. For example, one thing that you could work on would be the creation of distance in a painting. Can you see how the bridge and the buildings in the background get paler and paler as they recede into the distance? And the colors get less and less bright? Perhaps you could post a few of your photos in a thread and let us help you pick one that would be simpler to begin with? I think it would be good to post some photos of scenes that you take with your camera of scenes around where you live. Nothing too complicated, some simple scenes, and probably not with buildings until you build your skills with the watercolor itself. Does that sound like a good plan to you?
