Yosemite Valley

I've been working on this image for a while -- this is my third try and I'm thinking about how to improve and simplify for the next version. The painting is from a photo I took years ago on film; it is the classic view looking up the valley from a roadside pull-off with El Captian on the left and Half Dome peaking out center left. There are a few issues: the air is so clear there is little aerial perspective in the scene so how to imply depth; where to simplify detail and texture while implying the massive naked rock elements, snow fields, and towering cloud forms; what to do for the extended foreground. It's possibe I'm just not ready to tackle something so complex!

This is a very good rendering of a view that has so much to take in! I can see Edo’s point. I took a similar picture there in the spring, and that night it snowed. The next morning everything changed dramatically. (now I need to find those pics).
