Horses in the forest

We went on a long walk just east of Utrecht where there is a lot of woodland and we came across this clearing with two horses.

I liked how the sun was hitting their backs.

This is my first painting on Bockingford 340 x 240mm. Its completely different to work on than cotton papers. Very easy to scrub out mistakes or make alterations. It lends itself to going bold on it and working fast, so I find that quite exhilarating. I didn't want to spend hours on it like I have been doing with my last run of paintings.

For this painting I used cobalt blue, viridian and a colour I spotted on Edo's Instagram - mars red - a MaimeriBlu coulour which is a kind of vivid burnt sienna. Very nice.

Great picture Paul, I love the trees in the background and the puddles in the foreground. Horses are well painted too!
