Snow scenes

I think this two paintings will be some of my last snow paintings for this season because I have already discovered the first spring flowers in the garden…..

The first painting shows a chapel called “Walburgis Kapelle”. The chapel is dedicated to Saint Walburga who was born 710 in Wessex (South England). It is believed that it was founded on the site of a pre-Christian sanctuary. There is evidence that the first building dates back to 1671. A new chapel was built in 1815. The chapel is located on a wooded mountain very close to where I live. It is a wonderful place and from there you have a wide view of the valley called “Weschnitztal”

Walburgis Kapelle

The last painting shows a winter morning mood from one of the many fields in the neighbourhood. When I finished this painting and looked at it from a distance, I noticed that the group of trees on the left side was competing too much with the trees on the right side. So, I rewetted the left side and tried to remove paint with a paper towel. If you look closely, you can see it. But I still wanted to share it with you because I like the painting, the warm-cold contrast in it and I am happy with the result.

Two very different paintings but I love them both. Lovely light in the first one with the clarity of a crisp winters day . The second has a misty mood which is very calming. Really good.
