Catching the light

Posting my latest painting, attempting to catch the light as it filtered through the trees. Although I feel I have overworked parts of the painting ie. the foreground (struggled to get the darkest tones) I am overall happy with the end result. As this was a practice piece I also tried out the Ampersand aquabord. The surface is definitely interesting to work on. Very quickly I found the pigment will quickly lift off if you drop water or use a stiff brush over any areas already painted. Not sure if I will use this surface again. Has anyone else tried "aquabord"?

Hi, one advantage of the aquabord is that you can scrub back to the panel if you make a mistake. As I was a bit heavy handed with the paint this characteristic worked with this painting. My aim is definitely to be able to paint a misty forest scene on watercolour paper. Thanks for commenting
